Cloverfield is kind of freaky, and may cause confusion. Like a movie that I heard about called Quarantine, this movie is made with zero stationary cameras. This makes
the movie seem much more real. In the beginning, you see a video of Rob and Beth together at a New York apartment, then everything switches to Jason, who controls the camera for a few minutes. Jason then gives Hud the camera, who uses it for the rest of the film as he and the rest of the stars run around New York during an attack. The only goal is to get to safety by any means necessary. Some of the effects include a girl exploding, aliens, and a bridge being destroyed, along with building being knocked over.
This movie is rated PG-13 and may make a person nauseated, but it is a great thriller for the rating. I would definitely recommend it if you liked War of the Worlds or some other thriller such as Signs.
